On Bonaire we love to eat goat meat. In the past there were no freezers or refrigerators to preserve meat, but there was always plenty of sun and salt. A boy grew up at a local farm with his father. Through the years he has gained a lot of knowledge over the Nature and Culture of the island. Nowadays he has more than 35 years of experience in salting goat meat. He is a well-known local butcher.
Coming Saturday 27th of August Mr. Elmer “Toyan” Frans will give a workshop of salting goat meat during the Cultural Market at Cultural Park Mangazina di Rei. Come and see how the preservation of goat meat was being prepared.
